FS2004/FSX Gloster Gamecock fighter
=================================
In July 1924, Gloucestershire Aircraft began work on an improved Grebe single- seat fighter to Specification 37/23 and intended to be powered by the 398hp Bristol Jupiter IV nine-cylinder radial engine. Of wooden construction with fabric skinning and retaining the then-standard armament of two synchronised 7.7mm Vickers guns, and to receive the appellation of Gamecock, the prototype was delivered to Martlesham Heath on 20 February 1925. In the following September, an initial order was placed on behalf of the RAF for 30 Gamecock Is powered by the 425hp Jupiter VI. In the event, a further 60 Gamecock Is were built for the RAF (1925-27), one of these (unofficially known as the Gamecock III) at one time flying with a lengthened fuselage, new and enlarged fin and rudder assembly and narrow-chord ailerons. A developed version, the Gamecock II, with a steel-tube upper wing centre section, narrow-chord ailerons and a larger rudder, appeared in 1928. This was adopted by Finland, two pattern aircraft and a manufacturing licence being acquired. Fifteen Gamecock IIs were built for the Finnish air arm 1929-30 by the State Aircraft Factory (Valtion Lentokonenetehdas), these having the lengthened fuselage tested earlier in the UK by the so-called Gamecock III and being powered initially by the 420hp Gnome-Rhone Jupiter (IV) 9Ab or 9Ak and later by the 480hp Jupiter (IV) 9Ag. The last Gamecock Is were withdrawn from first-line RAF service mid-1931, Gamecock IIs remaining first-line Finnish equipment until 1935.

Effects
--------
-On startup there is automatic engine smoke.
-Then follow the exhaust flames with smoke.
-Continuous blue flames with smoke if engine is running .
-Guns with flash, smoke and falling cartridges can be triggered with the standard Strobe key (O).
It is much nicer however if you put the FS2004 standard Strobe key (O) to the trigger from your joystick.You can change this in the Key menu.
It is a good idea if you replace the standard (L) key for lights by the L+CTRL, (normaly activating the landing lights only). This avoids you having to have all lights on when pulling the trigger.

Installation:
==============
-Unzip " Gamecock" into a temporary file and move the "Gamecock" folder into the main Aircraft directory.
-Leave the PW-9.cab in your panelfolder.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-Read instructions carefully when installing the gauges , say YES...when asked if the gauges sources should be trusted. If you say no....most of the gauges are not going to work !
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
-Copy the effects into the Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\effects folder.
-Add the 20can.wav in your Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X\sound folder.

Flying the plane:
=================
Remember...this is an early fighter biplane ! Manoeuvrability is good, it rolls fine and is responsive to rudder and elevator. Nice flying aerobatics close to the tower !
Gather as much speed as possible for a loop. On top of it, you'll be very close to the stall. Wing over, knife edge, segment rolls are all possible.
- Hold up elevator to start the engine, you have no brakes and the tailskid must firmly be on the ground to stop the plane.
- Take off at about 60, correct with left rudder
- Climb at 65, level at altitude, speed slowly builds up to 125 kts.
- Landing approach at 80, over the fence at 65, touchdown at 60. You need some up trim for a threepointer.
- Hold up elevator for the tailskid to brake the plane when taxying.
